How can you Advance your Mentoring Career?

The International Mentoring Center (IMC) recognizes that mentor development and learning can be achieved through a variety of methods and platforms. We aim to acknowledge these diverse pathways and encourage you to approach your growth as a holistic process. To support this, we have assigned Mentor Development Credits to activities that help mentors gain deeper experience and a stronger understanding of both their industry and the practice of mentoring.

How can I Renew my Credentials?

To be eligible for credential renewals, a mentor must complete below criteria:

  • 20 Mentor Development Credits (MDC)
  • 5 mentoring supervision sessions every year and declare the supervisor’s information in the application
  • Renewal fee is $149
  • Renewal period is 3 years

Mentor Development Credit Allocation

We have outlined ways for you to meet the minimum requirement of 20 Mentor Development Credits (MDC) for credential renewals. Each activity has designated points that can be accumulated over the current credential cycle and submitted during the renewal application process.

Mentoring Education Development:

Development Activity Mentor Development Credits (MDC)
Course certificates from IMC Accredited Training Providers 5 credits 
Events and webinars conducted by IMC 2 credits 
Seminars and webinars from IMC Training Providers 2 credits 
Interactive courses and Events from IMC Accredited Organizations 2 credits 

Mentoring Experience Development:

Development Activity Mentor Development Credits (MDC)
Authoring or Co-Authoring a Published Research Paper 3 credits 
Authoring or Co-Authoring Published e-books 4 credits 
Hosting Mentoring/Industry-Related Webinar 5 credits 
External Speaker or Subject Matter Expert for Podcast/ Seminar/ Webinar/ Symposium 5 credits 
Authoring and Publishing Articles/Columns/Blogs 5 credits for at least 5 publications
Volunteering 5 credits 
Hosting IMC Chapter Events 5 credits 

Organization- Based Development

Conduct a Company Survey 5 credits 
Hosting events 5 credits
