Benefits of Mentoring in Turkey Impact Delivery

As of June 2026 · Sources: MWM Türkiye · UNDP · Sabancı Foundation · EmpowerME · Boğaziçi University · 500 Startups Istanbul

Organizational & Workforce Benefits

Higher Retention Rates

The Million Women Mentors (MWM) Türkiye program has recorded 138,748 mentoring pledges from 276 institutions, with 1,566 active mentors and 3,470 mentees across 81 cities. This scale of engagement directly supports retention by connecting young women with career mentors.

Leadership Pipeline

The UNDP "Young Women Building Their Future" project engaged 1,000 mentors and 1,100 mentees, resulting in over 4,000 mentorship sessions across two cohorts (2023–2024). This creates a structured leadership pipeline for NEET (No Employment, Education, or Training) women aged 18–35.

Employee Engagement

The Sabancı Foundation "Geleceğini Kuran Genç Kadınlar" (Young Women Building Their Future) mentorship program runs in annual cycles. The fourth cycle launched in June 2026, demonstrating sustained institutional commitment to employee engagement through mentorship.

Academic & Youth Development Benefits

Boosting Confidence & Career Readiness

A 2023 study of 141 secondary school mentor teachers in Istanbul examined mentoring conceptions and motivations. Such structured teacher mentorship directly builds student confidence and career awareness.

Career Readiness

The EmpowerME initiative equipped 86,000+ young people across MENA and Türkiye with practical work and entrepreneurship skills in its first year, using mentor-led learning and 149 youth ambassadors delivering 572 trainings across 40 cities.

Alumni Engagement

The Sabancı Foundation Mentorship Program connects current scholars with alumni mentors, creating a bridge between current students and graduates. This fosters a culture of giving back and institutional loyalty.

Professional & Global Benefits

Professional Credibility

Structured mentorship enhances professional reputation. 500 Startups Istanbul provides both financial support and mentorship to hundreds of Turkish startups, connecting them with Silicon Valley mentors and investors, directly building credibility.

Global Recognition

Programs like MWM Türkiye connect participants with international networks. The UNDP and Sabancı Foundation programs also provide global visibility and align with international development goals.

Skill Development

The reverse mentoring model in Turkey's banking sector (e.g., Akbank, Garanti Bank, Denizbank) builds digital fluency, social media expertise, and intergenerational collaboration. This develops critical leadership and digital skills for the future economy.

Accreditation Process

How Organizations in Turkey Can Get IMC Accreditation

To maintain the highest level of standards in global mentoring, IMC has a rigorous review system to audit your organization’s program quality as part of our strict accreditation process requirements in Turkey.

Your organization can opt to provide a mentoring program with more than 20 hours of training or a shorter one. This can get you a training accreditation or an endorsed training accreditation.

Your program must include mentoring skills and domain or knowledge development so as to be eligible for accreditation. Every program must incorporate the following three sections compulsorily:

  1. The IMC Definition of Mentoring
  2. The IMC Code of Conduct and Ethics
  3. The IMC Core Competencies (minimum of 3 are must for accreditation)

The programs must provide participants with the necessary skills for each credential and ensure that the trainer is the primary mentor supervisor for at least a year.

The accreditation will be valid for three years from the date of issue.

The Accreditation Application Flow

The entire accreditation application process takes around four to six weeks.

Stage 1: Organization Details

Stage 2: Program Details

Stage 3: Instructor Details

Stage 4: Terms and Conditions

Following a successful review, you’ll receive an email notification confirming your IMC accreditation status and a media kit to display your accreditation.

Please feel free to contact us for any further clarification.
