IMC in Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic, mentoring is a strategic tool to address structural challenges. The government, along with the private sector, has many mentoring initiatives to its credit that enhance the growth of the society. This also affects unemployment, which is among the lowest in the EU, along with public debt and manageable inflation.

Czechia is betting high on these mentoring initiatives to develop its human capital and enterprises:

  • University-led Incubation and Mentorship (Get Spin-Off/Start-up Ready by Czech Technical University; another by Charles University)
  • “Do Business in the Czech Republic”—Impact Hub
  • Women in Tech – Targeted Support for Female Entrepreneurs
  • Climate Launchpad – Green Innovation Mentorship
  • LASER-PRO Startup & Spin-off Support Scheme

The International Mentoring Center Czech Republic upholds the highest mentoring standards without sidelining the Czechia culture.

Workforce & Employment Inclusion Benefits

Youth Employment & Career Transition

CTU Career Centre Mentoring Program (Czech Technical University) has operated for over five years, offering students the opportunity to discover the real working environment in Czech and international companies. The program provides invaluable work experience, personal contacts, and CV references, while mentors gain a different perspective on their own work. It is described as an "entrance ticket to the working environment while you are still studying".

At-Risk Youth & Social Inclusion

"Key to the World" initiative, led by the Eva Pavlová Foundation and the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, connects companies with young people from children's homes and shelters. ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Karviná recently joined the project, providing hands-on experience, mentoring, and personal guidance to help bridge the gap between education and employment. The pilot phase operates in the Moravian-Silesian and Zlín regions.

Long-Term Unemployed & NEET Support

The "Experience Without Borders" project supports young people aged 18–29 who are long-term unemployed or economically inactive, helping them regain motivation, self-confidence, and work experience. The program includes mentoring and coaching focused on motivation, planning next steps, and developing work habits.

Academic & Research Development Benefits

Early-Career Researcher Mentoring

Charles University's Pilot Mentoring Program for early-career scientists selected 28 mentor-mentee pairs for its first cycle. Among mentees, 16 are women and 12 are men from nine different faculties. Mentors come from Charles University, other Czech universities, and prestigious international institutions, including the University of Oxford, Columbia University, the University of Copenhagen, and Google DeepMind. The program focuses on career development and supporting women in science.

Research Excellence & Interdisciplinary Mentoring

The SYRI Mentoring Program involved 19 mentees from among SYRI's junior researchers and 15 mentors from Czech and international research institutions. The program delivered 13 workshops on soft and methodological skills. Several mentees established long-term collaborations resulting in joint articles and internships abroad. The program is recognized as providing one of the most comprehensive supports for ERC Starting Grant applicants in the Czech Republic.

Innovation & Spin-Off Incubation

The Life Science Transfer Academy, a collaboration between CEITEC MU and Masaryk University, welcomed twelve participants from three faculties. The two-month program featured more than twenty mentors and lecturers, including investors and scientists who have launched their own businesses. Individual mentoring with experts from industry, startups, venture capital funds, and the legal field provides immediate feedback and practical advice. The program also supports promising PhD students and postdocs through the CEITEC Mentor Program, which pairs them with experienced researchers.

Accreditation Process

How Organizations in Czech Republic Can Get IMC Accreditation

To maintain the highest level of standards in global mentoring, IMC has a rigorous review system to audit your organization’s program quality as part of our strict accreditation process requirements in the Czech Republic.

Your organization can opt to provide a mentoring program with more than 20 hours of training or a shorter one. This can get you a training accreditation or an endorsed training accreditation.

Your program must include mentoring skills and domain or knowledge development so as to be eligible for accreditation. Every program must incorporate the following three sections compulsorily:

  1. The IMC Definition of Mentoring
  2. The IMC Code of Conduct and Ethics
  3. The IMC Core Competencies (minimum of 3 are must for accreditation)

The programs must provide participants with the necessary skills for each credential and ensure that the trainer is the primary mentor supervisor for at least a year.

The accreditation will be valid for three years from the date of issue.

The Accreditation Application Flow

The entire accreditation application process takes around four to six weeks.

Stage 1: Organization Details

Stage 2: Program Details

Stage 3: Instructor Details

Stage 4: Terms and Conditions

Following a successful review, you’ll receive an email notification confirming your IMC accreditation status and a media kit to display your accreditation.
