Accreditation Process

How Organizations in Brazil Can Get IMC Accreditation

To maintain the highest level of standards in global mentoring, IMC has a rigorous review system to audit your organization’s program quality as part of our strict accreditation process requirements in Brazil.

Your organization can opt to provide a mentoring program with more than 20 hours of training or a shorter one. This can get you a training accreditation or an endorsed training accreditation.

Your program must include mentoring skills and domain or knowledge development so as to be eligible for accreditation. Every program must incorporate the following three sections compulsorily:

  1. The IMC Definition of Mentoring
  2. The IMC Code of Conduct and Ethics
  3. The IMC Core Competencies (minimum of 3 are must for accreditation)

The programs must provide participants with the necessary skills for each credential and ensure that the trainer is the primary mentor supervisor for at least a year.

The accreditation will be valid for three years from the date of issue.

There is no formal selection process, but IMC is building a global mentoring community that upholds the highest standards set by the IMC Code of Conduct and Ethics.

You must be an active IMC member to apply for any credential. To apply for the CAM credential, for example, you must complete 20 hours of structured training with an accredited provider and pass an IMC assessment. Other credentials have different requirements.

You can volunteer your time and skills to develop the local mentoring ecosystem within Brazil. Opportunities include leading a local chapter and attending community events to learn new mentoring techniques that promote meaningful connections and major communities.

As a Chapter Leader, you will “mentor community activities, including arranging events and initiatives for the IMC in Brazil.” IMC will recognize your efforts, thus making you eligible for Mentor Development Credits (MDCs) during credential renewal. You also gain “access to IMC-exclusive content, strengthening your position as an IMC Brazil region leader while contributing to your professional and personal development.”
